Shahrokh Hoghooghi
Director and official instructor, SIXTH DAN
He began to explore the world of karate in 1973, during his adolescence. Two years later, he joined the Japan Karate Association (JKA), as well as the Karate Union of Great Britain (KUGB) in the United Kingdoms. In the Devonshire city of Exeter, he had as an official instructor Sensei David Collocot. His official examiners at the time were Andy Sherry and Keinosuke Enoeda Senseis. Under the guidance of these senseis, he competed for several years in many regional competitions in England.
In Wales 1979, he was awarded his first-dan black belt by chief instructor Sensei Keinosuke Enoeda, eighth-dan. After rigorous local competitions, he was selected for the British Southwest team later that summer.
In January 1980, he moved to Montreal, Canada. He then received his second-dan from Sensei Nishiama and Sensei Sakurai at the University of Montreal, in 1981. Sensei Yasuo Sakurai had traveled to Quebec from Japan due to his dynamic karate techniques. Sensei Sakurai prepared Shahrokh for the Canadian Championships in 1984.
In the United States, ten years later, he was awarded the rank of third-dan by senseis Mori and Enoeda. He then completed two years of the 'Instructor's course' with Sensei Mori, and eventually received his instructor, examiner and judging certifications from the Japan Karate Association (JKA) Board.
He was awarded his fourth-dan by senseis Sigiura, Mori, Enoeda and Uekei, July 1995. Finally, in 2001, he received his fifth-dan from senseis Mori, Uekei and Enoeda in Connecticut, United States.
